Slow internet
Are you paying top dollar for old technology Internet ?

Many Australian businesses use Telstra bigpond as their Internet provider. In the past there was not a lot of choices and Telstra was the main player when it came to your Internet connection.  The problem is that the nature of the Internet has changed and your average business requires faster Internet and larger download limits than before. Many customers are still stuck with ADSL1 connections that are many times slower than your basic ADSL2 connection.  Telstra do offer the newer and faster ADSL2 connections but usually the price is no where as competitive as the other major providers. Two ISP that offer ADSL2 and provide fast and reliable Internet are iinet and TPG.

 ZDNet speed tester

How fast is your Internet ?
A good tool to judge your current  Internet Performance is  http://www.zdnet.com.au/broadband/speedtest.htm The Internet speed tester can help you establish what your average download capability is with your current Inetrnet service providers (ISP). For example people that have been long time customers with their current provider may still be on a Internet plan that has a low download speed compared to a new user that has just signed up. New plans are likely to be faster with a larger download limit and with less cost. Companies such as iiNet and TPG have some very competitive Internet packages available.

The Internet is getting faster and cheaper everyday and there is a wide selection of Inetrnet service providers to choose from. Don’t be scared to ask questions and shop around for your Internet provider.

Internet Speed and your ISP

The Internet is becoming a more and more important part of any business and in the past many companies where stuck with little choice when it came to choosing a Internet service provider - ISP. There have been big changes in the Internet over the past couple of years, the Internet is getting faster and faster and at a fraction of the cost. There are now many different companies  that offer fast Internet at an affordable rate. Having said that many people are still stuck with expensive contracts and slow Internet speeds. My advise to anyone is to do your research before committing to a long contract with any ISP. Ideally everyone should now have ADSL2 ( thought not available in all areas ) which offers far greater Internet speed than previously available. Companies such as iiNet and TPG have some very competitive Internet packages available. You may also find that your current ISP may be able to provide faster Internet to you but wont offer it to you unless you ask. A good tool to check the speed of your current Internet is
