My hinge on my mac book air looks identical to the picture above. This is a huge defect considering the air is almost a 2 thousand dollar piece of equipment

Same thing happened to me! It's definitely a Macbook Air defect! First, the left hinge broke. I took it to Apple and they wouldn't replace it! I needed the computer for work, so after unsuccessful visits to the store and several emails, I finally decided to do it myself. I opened the Macbook Air, slightly bent the plastic covering the left hinge, noticed the hinge was off it's normal position and wouldn't be able to get it back in place - without taking the rest of the Macbook Air apart, so I decided to use a small flat screwdriver and a hammer to remove the hinge locks (12 of them). After that, I closed the Macbook Air, and since it still had the right hinge, I was able to open it and close it properly! It worked great for about more months until the right hinge gave out too! Did the same thing again to the right hinge, and bought a $6 screen holder for it! Looks weird but wtf! Save your money! Good Luck!

Thanks to the Guys at CrashZone. It is a real pleasure to work with a business that just gets on with doing what needs to be done and do it well.

The WebTRIM interface is seamless and combines the web-based databases so they operate like one for the user.

My wife's first generation Mac Air hinge broke and cracked out of the blue last week. Screen flopped all over, no way to use it. She took it to the local Apple Store Genius Bar and they said "It's a known defect and it will be repaired free of charge even though you are out of warranty." She just got it back today, ZERO COST. Well done Apple.

I've got no problem with the hinge, but its more like I've got a crack on the other side of the Air. (The underside of the bottom left hand corner.)

I haven't even knocked it or anything... bits seem to be falling off randomly. Just wondering, is the case replacement covered under warranty?
